Four busy weeks

Indeed it was! 4 fiber festivals, 4 weeks, and 3 states. Think it might be a more interesting thing if I could have said 4 weeks...hahaha
Let's work our way backward.

Yes, technically not a booth or festival shot, but it is a fine pic taken of the surviving members of the great wall collapse of 2012 at Hoosier Hills. Left to right, Johanna of the beautiful pink hair and myself. Taking the picture is Ms Carrie who helped immensely with the clean up of our wall disaster. As luck would have it this happened during breakdown after the festival. The wall was bumped a bit from behind which cased it to tumble and dump all the pretties in the middle of the booth;). It made for a funny kind of packing well deserving of milkshakes at Steak and Shake afterward...lol

The Middle Tennessee Fiber Festival was a pure delight! From the awesome vendors to meeting some spectacular customers like the Knit Girllz. Wish there had been more time to hang out a little in Nashville and check in on old friends around the area, but that can definitely be planned on for next year;)

And before I forget to mention it, We picked up the sweetest little hitch-hiker at a truck stop along I-65. Nick-named, Little Dog, it was apparent she did not belong there with ticks the size of thumb nails hanging from her ears and a panicky look in her sad little eyes that pleaded with every person who walked by her to take her home. With a bath, vet check and spay, she quickly found her forever home with one of the customers from A Tangled Yarn and loves her new name, Knitty Purl!

It wouldn't be a proper spring festival tour without a full weekend at the Kentucky Sheep & Fiber Festival. This year was a bit of a rocky start when my wallet was stollen during set up, but as things started to get under way and the flood of folks thronged to the show, I found that such a little thing really did not matter when it came right down to it. Had an absolute blast teaching my classes, talking with my customers and hanging with my fiber friends who really understand my obsession a bit more than most!

Last but definitely not least, especially since it was the first Festival of the season, Indiana Fiber & Music. I have to say, they put on a lovely little festival full of not just awesome fiber folk but spectacular musicians to boot!
All in all the spring festival circuit was a smashing success! I love all the new friends I made such as Johanna of the lovely pink hair, Carrie who never once complained about picking stuff up from the concrete due to a fallen wall, and

Kentucky Sheep and Fiber Festival

The weeks leading up to the Kentucky Sheep and Fiber Festival were to say the least a hectic one. But I am a firm believer that God does not give you more than you can bear and sometimes it just best to simply roll with the punches.....more about this later though.

Any how the show went off with out a hitch and I managed to get my booth set up and reschedule the Spinning Art Yarn class. I have to say that everyone on the committee for the Festival really pulled their weight to make the second event even better than the first. What an incredible team we have.

Art Yarn – Advanced Spinning

INSTRUCTOR:            Stephanie Stratton     

DATE:             Friday, May 21^st             1:00 pm – 4:00 pm

DESCRIPTION OF WORKSHOP:            Learn to construct Art Yarns such as Core Spun, Tail Spun, Coils, Hives, using Spin-Ins (such as sequins, ribbons, beads, wool locks, fabric strips, etc.), 3 Ply Navaho and Thick & Thin. 

SKILL LEVEL: This is an advanced spinning class for those who are comfortable spinning and plying yarn.

WORKSHOP FEE:  $65            MATERIAL FEE:  None

MATERIALS NEEDED:             Spinning wheel, 1 bobbin of pre-spun singles, darning needle, bobbins, fiber, cone or skein of woolen yarn, thread, and spin-ins.

Carding Art Batts

DATE:             Saturday May 21^st              11:00 am - 1:00 pm

DESCRIPTION OF WORKSHOP:  Want to know how the beautifully sparkly, deliciously funky and extremely expensive art batts are created?  Or perhaps you are mystified by how to make your own roving from scratch? 

SKILL LEVEL:  Basic knowledge of carding is preferred, but squeaky clean drum carding newbies are welcome.

WORKSHOP FEE:  $55            MATERIAL FEE:             None

MATERIALS NEEDED:             Drum Carder & Diz and Fiber (Can reserve carder in advance, only 3 available!)

Carding for Art Batts Class at Kentucky Sheep and Fiber Festival

My post will probably be short on typing and heavy on pics:) That's really what y'all want to see any way. Or at least that's how I am....lol

The following pics are from the Carding for Art Batts class I gave at the Kentucky Sheep and Fiber Festival Saturday May 15. I had a wonderful group of gals there and they were very patient with me as I showed them how to make a puni, how to blend certain fine fibers, and how to diz to their hearts content with mounds of wild and fun fibers.

Also, I want to give a quick shout out to Otto and Joanne Strauch and their unbelievable servicing of the drum carders! They were demonstrating the Strauch Carders at the Festival. During my class, they came in and adjusted carders free of charge! I was so impressed with their service that I decided to get a Strauch dealership the next day! That's what I call CUSTOMER SERVICE!
