Home at last!

Honestly, we wish we were still out there in the wild woods of Red River Gorge. We had so much fun, got so darn dirty, and had just a good 'ol time! Here is a pic of Miss Piper and I until I have time to sort through all the rest.

This week end we are leaving today and coming back Monday for some camping and rappelling. Will not have internet until monday evening, but keep commenting on the Contest. Knit Night

Last night was Knit Night:) I missed last weeks meeting at Los Tres because I was working on one of the town houses. Ugh. Anyhow, this week we met at MagPies yarn shop in Lexington, KY. Dang, I just love that place. All natural fibers! I came home with a lovely blueish-green flax yarn by Louet, #4 double points and a fab basket with a peachy silk lining! Afterward, a smaller group of us walked over to Ramsey's Diner for a bite to eat and more chit chat. I am just so lucky to have found a wonderful group of Fiber Artists locally. They are all just absolutely fabulous!




I finished spinning my Happy Hippy Soy Silk rovings I bought at Stones Throw last month. Once I got home, I najaho plied one of the singles:) I really like how it turned out. The colors are bright and vibrant. I think this will have to be turned into silky 'Baby Janes' to be sold in Mom's shop, Tickled Pink.

Contest!

OK, I am having my own little contest starting now and closing on May 7th.
I was sent some very stunning Spun Recycled Sari Silk and I don't know what to knit it into. The yardage is 150 meters (160yards) and about 6 wpi making this a bulky yarn. This is where you come in! I am asking you the reader (like I have that many readers..lol) to send me a pattern for the yarn. I will pick my favorite pattern out of all submissions and the person who sent me the winning pattern will receive a hank of homespun yarn (spun by me) and a set of 5 handmade copper stitch markers.

The rules are:


1. The pattern must be a FREE pattern with a picture located on the internet.


2. Links to patterns must be posted to the comment section of this post no later than May 7th. Make sure no one else has posted a link to that particular pattern in the comment section before you post your pick. If you are the second person to post that pattern link, your entry will be voided.


3. The pattern must not exceed using 160 yards(150 meters) of the Sari-Silk. This of course does not exempt using the Sari-Silk as an accent yarn or another accent yarn:)



I guess that is about it. I think with only 3 rules everything should be pretty self explanatory:) Plus, it should be pretty quick and simply for anyone who is interested to make a quick submission.

Finished Projects....Plus an Idea!

Here are a few of my finished projects that I have been working on in my spare time:




A navaho plied 100 % alpaca fingering weight yarn.







Soy silk still being spun. I have one single already spun, but have not decided whether to navaho ply it or ply them together.








This is a better pic of the spun recycled sari silk that Kat sent me. And I have come up with a plan of what to do with it! I am going to let you the reader decided. Send me your thoughts and the idea I like the most will get a prize in the form of handspun yarn and hand crafted stitch markers. There is about 150 meters (160yards) and about 6 wpi making this a bulky yarn. Submitted ideas must be free patterns and not use over 160 yards:) Any takers? Knitters Treat Exchange Received!

OH MY! I pulled in the drive today and there it was! A rather large box, all the way from the UK! All the way from Kat in the UK! Hidden in all of the white pop-corn peanuts was a yarn that I have been itching to try for quite some time now, but had never come across in the LYS's, recycled sari silk yarn. And wow is it georgeous! Kat also included some absolutely fabulous wool that she dyed herself using kool-aid into some lovely peach and pink tones. I am going to have to think up a fun project that I can use both of these in. My poor over worked feet are definitely thanking Kat profusely for the pampering products. I have had so much fun flipping through the 'Simply Knitting' magazine and the little pattern book. Perhaps I should pick a pattern out of the felting patterns for the kool-aid wool.. Hmm, but what to choose? What to choose! There were also two (now one:) very fresh scented candles that Kat made herself! I have been burning one this evening in hopes of falling asleep on time as it is such a fabulously relaxing scent! Tomorrow I will be using the bath gel and having a long hot soak with the second candle. To top it all of she had 4 little baggies of beads scattered through out the packing peanuts. Talk about a fun FUN box! Thank you so very much for all the goodies Kat! I love them!!!

'In the Garden' Amy

I received an adorable exchange box from Amy for the 'In the Garden' stitch marker exchange! Unfortunately, I think I left the garden gloves in my truck because I used them today. Needless to say, they did not make it into the photo:) But are getting tons of use! Dang Amy you are just too good! Thank you very much for the exchange! Oooh and I can't wait to try out the recipe! Again, thank you!!!

Finished Project!

I have so been wanting to post a new entry for the longest time, but unfortunately, I have been so busy with work that I just have not been able to make the time. Luck would have it that I am manning Mom's shop 'Tickled Pink' which has a 'little bit of this and that for here and there' for the next few days. Needless to say, my days will be getting a little longer, but on the flip side, I have time to post on my blog:) Yippie!!!




Here is my latest finished project! Sorry about the picture quality, I am using my camera phone and not the canon. The Reverse Bloom Flower Wash cloth from Melanie Falick's book Weekend Knitting. I used plain old Peaches and Cream cotton instead of the Chenille it called for and I really liked how it turned out! This cute little cloth is going to be given to Bill's Sister with a basket full of other goodies either this evening or the next. She just had a little baby boy a few hours ago! Talk about exciting. I can barely wait to meet the little fellow and am so anxious to hear what his name is!

Busy little worker Bee!!!

I have been very, very busy this week. Two town houses are empty which means two painting jobs, tons of wall patching, lumbing work, clean up, etc, etc, etc. And lets not forget to leave out that mowing season has arrived too! I have had time in the evenings to do some spinning and just this week I figured out how to navajo (sp?) ply yarn from spun singles! At first I was not sure that I liked the results, but it is quickly growing on me! Will post pics as soon as I have a chance.

Steam wrapped yarn update!

Remember my Steamers post? Well, here is the finished product. 175 yards of Fingering weight super wash yarn! I love how the rose, lavender & mint colors blended together! I was a bit worried at first that I was just making a big huge mess by using those bright colors together, and was very happy that the results turned out so well!

74% Dixie!

OK, I'm 74% Dixie. Course I'm sure it helps that I'm from and still live in Kentucky! Only one question threw me off and that was the 'carbonated water' question. I call it SODA-POP. What percentage are you? Are you a Yankee or Dixie Quiz

It's here! It's Here! It's HERE!! Dawn's bag came from the UK today and I am in awe! I got the bag, the pattern, a book of stunning rowan patterns, Yummie candies, Beads, Tea, an addorable cell phone charm sheep, a Happy Easter pin and last but not least a warm and fuzzy feeling inside! Oooh, almost forgot the lovely smelling butterfly soaps and an extra ball of Noro Yarn! What a fabulous, Fabulous package you put together Dawn! I love everything in it! Thank you, Thank You, THANK YOU!!!!
