SAFF

SAFF was awesome!  Made a ton of new fiber friends, hugs'n'kisses with old friends and sold a little fluff.  What more can a gal ask for?  The threat of Sandy scared a few folks off, but all in all, it was fabulous week end.

Another pretty view along
I always knot SAFF is just a wee bit further down the road when I see this view.

My little friend spun some yarn with me most of the week end.

Linda got to hold the giant angora bun-bun.

Some of my hand dyed wool on the 'Wool Girl'.

What kept me busy during SAFF... Dizing roving like a mad woman!

Carved pumpkins at Grove Park overlooking Asheville.  We dined on the patio and had a delicious meal with great friends:)

Carding for Art Batts Class at Kentucky Sheep and Fiber Festival

My post will probably be short on typing and heavy on pics:) That's really what y'all want to see any way. Or at least that's how I am....lol

The following pics are from the Carding for Art Batts class I gave at the Kentucky Sheep and Fiber Festival Saturday May 15. I had a wonderful group of gals there and they were very patient with me as I showed them how to make a puni, how to blend certain fine fibers, and how to diz to their hearts content with mounds of wild and fun fibers.

Also, I want to give a quick shout out to Otto and Joanne Strauch and their unbelievable servicing of the drum carders! They were demonstrating the Strauch Carders at the Festival. During my class, they came in and adjusted carders free of charge! I was so impressed with their service that I decided to get a Strauch dealership the next day! That's what I call CUSTOMER SERVICE!

OMG... I think this was gold sari or firestar with hemp and wool. Deliciously soft once it came off the drum!

My New Moosie Spindle is here!

moosie spindle
Yes, it is finally here! After about 8 months my wee little moosie finally arrived safe and sound. And is it ever a joy to spin on. In the photo, I have a picture of the Moosie which has a Kingwood shaft, the skein of turquoise yarn I just finished spinning on it, and a ball of my turquoise hand dyed and dizzed roving that was used for the skein.

If you are interested in starting your own moosie herd, you can contact the Bosworths on their site Journey Wheel.

And of course hand made roving is available in my little shop LunabudKnits:)

Other Fun Facts..................

I taught myself to knit by watching a woman while on a flight from Scotland to the USA in 1996.

I taught myself how to spin yarn Feb 15th, 2007. I think I've done fairly well:)

'Lunabud' is a combination of two dogs' names I was loved by, Buddy and Luna:)
