Musical Horses

It is a long, long story, but to shorten it a bit... The farm I was keeping Applebutter is closing;( I am so sorry for the owners and animals as it was a wonderful place to keep your animal. I have known this day was coming since late spring. I found a new place to keep her which is free, but much, much smaller. So today, we played musical horses...

Hitched up the trailer and Miss Applebutter loaded into the trailer easy as could be. She's always been very good about going into the trailer and behaving herself, so I was not too worried about too many shenanigans. Once we pulled out on the road, she threw one of her 'fits' and I had to pull over to check it out. I think that was the moment she realized she was leaving her friends. Everything looked fine, so we hit the road again.

About the only draw back to the move was the time it took place which was rush hour. This and the fact that the new 'Sam's Club' had opened on the 4 lane caused us to use back roads much to the dismay to commuters hoping to by-pass the hoards of cars heading to big savings on monster piles of stuff you think you want but really don't need. Lets just say that had a nice leisurely drive home that evening.

We managed to narrowly avoid a wreck as well! Folks, before I start ranting... There are speed limits on roads for a reason! So that you can get a visual... Imagine a two lane country road where one vehicle is patiently waiting to turn left across traffic when someone comes barreling down the road not paying enough attention and does not have enough time to properly react to prevent wrecking. I am just thanking the powers that be and my lucky stars that vehicle decided not to swerve into my lane while I was hauling an already unhappy horse. Instead, they went into the grass and hit a ditch. Luckily no one appeared to be hurt.

Half an hour later, we pulled into the drive of her new home. It is not quite as spacious as the old one, but I am planning to make up for that by spending much more time with her as she is now just a few minutes away.

She gradually slowed down after a while.

She was still very alert and aggrivated.

Coming over to say 'hi' before doing the 'i'm crazy run again'.

ALMOST.......

DONE!!!!

I'm at the end of my spring cleaning and have put a good sized dent into the mound of washing waiting to be put through the washing machine.... And all I can say is 'YAHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOO!'.

I think the issue that really started this massive 'Spring Cleaning' mission is the simple fact that I have a tendency to be a hoarder. You see, when I was growing up, we moved at the very least once every year and some of my precious junk would magically disappear. This was compounded by the fact that once we stopped moving, Dad and I started collecting. We didn't really collect anything special, just stuff other people did not want. See, if someone would say, I'm throwing such and such away, one of us would run right over and bring it home. Not that I went over board with hoarding, but I'm putting a stop to it before it becomes a problem. Honestly, I think this trait was passed down to us from my Granny (Dad's Mom)....lol She is a tidy little hoarder as well....lol I think hers stems from growing up in Liverpool during WWII.

Anyhow, enough of the explanations and on to the good stuff.... Pictures!

I'm finally able to cutely display the Casein Knitting needles available at LunabudKnits:)

An old horse tooth I found in a barn and then found again in a cute little box(pictured below).

The jeweled frog box.

The first load of stuff that went to Good Will. I'll tell you one thing, there are a lot of expensive clothes and shoes in those 4 bags, but it was like a weight was lifted from my shoulders by donating them to Good Will!

Horsing Around

Went out not too long ago to visit Miss Applebutter the Appaloosa and her friends. For those of you who don't know what an appaloosa is, Applebutter is the black, grey & white spotted horse. I thank my lucky stars that it is free to keep her where she is. In return for the free board, I have all the other horses in the field trimmed when ever Applebutter gets her manucure;)

Applebutter and I go way back. I guess it was the summer of 1995 when I was working at the racetrack and doing some side horsey work that I found Applebutter in the paper. Actually, I was calling about her mother, who was a tad bit out of my price range. They offered up a yearling filly with no papers and a mysterious back ground instead. I went out to see her and fell in love. The family I bought her from had named her Applebutter because when she was born, she was the color of applebutter. It is a name that suits her even though she has definitely changed her spots! She and I spent the summer getting to know one another and she became the first horse I started and trained.

After a year with Applebutter, I decided it was more important to have an appartment as opposed to a horse, so I sold her. You know, that was always one of those decisions I regretted from my wild younger years, so in 2004 I bought her back.

She isn't the same horse I sold, but we enjoy each others company and understand one another. Needless to say, she will be with me for the rest of her life which I hope is a very long one as horses go:)

Other Fun Facts..................

I taught myself to knit by watching a woman while on a flight from Scotland to the USA in 1996.

I taught myself how to spin yarn Feb 15th, 2007. I think I've done fairly well:)

'Lunabud' is a combination of two dogs' names I was loved by, Buddy and Luna:)
